Equipped with resilience and strength, along with snack-filled pockets, they set off at 010.00 hours with the Showery Tor in the distance.  As the pupils learnt river crossing techniques, scrambled hillsides and squelched their way through the marshy terrain, they navigated to the summit of Brown Willy and the Geo cache that awaited them. After lunch and rehydration, the pupils led the staff up to the last of the three Tors. At the top of Brown Willy, they were challenged with making a friendship bracelet, before descending to the finish point for photographs and T-shirt mementos.

Arena and Aspire led five sessions for the pupils before the challenge, where they practised using a map and compass, developed their teamwork and leadership skills, and learnt how to respect the Moorland we would be walking on. We discussed what food would give them the best energy and what type of clothing and equipment they would need to complete the challenge. Arena is very proud of every pupil's determination and accomplishment and thanks to all the schools and staff who took part in this project.

We are now planning the 3-beach challenge which takes place in a couple of weeks.

It is hoped that other challenges will be planned for the Autumn term with further schools involved, and we hope to develop an overnight camp to increase the challenge in the future.
