Welcome to Arena Schools and Dartmoor SSP
Hello and welcome to the Arena Schools and Dartmoor School Sport Partnership website. Our values as a partnership are to ‘Inspire, Challenge and Succeed’. This is fundamental to all the support we provide to schools when working with children of all ages and abilities.
We have some exciting opportunities for this school year to offer you through the partnership and hope you become involved in our programmes.
About Us
Arena Schools and the Dartmoor School Sport Partnership (DSSP) merged in September 2024. Both partnerships have been delivering PE and School Sport services to schools for over 20 years, across Devon and Cornwall. During this time, our success has grown from strength to strength and the partnership has adapted to the growing needs of schools as they evolve in the current education climate.
We believe we need to empower children in our schools to “CHALLENGE: INSPIRE: SUCCEED”, and so the root of what we do is based on participation and excellence for all children we work with. We currently offer a raft of experience from high quality curriculum delivery, first class competitions, bespoke training and support and a highly successful outdoor learning programme through ‘Wild Tribe’.
We work with SEND pupils and can adapt our provision to meet the needs of all pupils. We believe that within physical education there is something for everyone with our rich, diverse provision. The focus is always on the quality of the experience for the learner. We believe that working with teachers and other adults to support them in their delivery, enhances the experience of the child so that they have a lifelong ambition of keeping healthy and active.
To achieve this, we have a great team who form the staff for the partnership. All of whom are very experienced Physical Education practitioners who have significant experience of working with both primary and secondary aged children.
We are involved in local and national programmes, and we ensure we remain up to date with all current guidelines and new initiatives and opportunities that would be of value to our schools.
We are continually striving to improve our practice and share this across the schools we work with.

A fabulous afternoon of fun and 'flight' at Teign school on Tuesday at our DSSP KS2 Trampoline and flight festival. 50 Children from Orchard Manor, Canada Hill, Stover School, Wolborough and Gatehouse Primary School arrived full of energy and enthusiasm and ready to be challenged! Teign school sports leaders led a coordination focused warm to help prepare children for take off and landings. Children then followed a carousel of activities including through vaults, straddle vaults, creative jump sequences, and learned skills and routines on the trampoline. Thank you teachers, leaders and children for supporting this event

An awesome afternoon at the SDLC year 5 invasion games mini festival last week. The Year 9 SDCC leaders put the pupils through their paces with a mixture of adapted Rugby, Handball and Netball games alongside big fun warm up activities. Everyone had such fun playing with friends and developing skills.

Active playtimes just got a whole lot better with this bunch of wonderful Young Play leaders at our conference on 13th Nov.. They were all so creative, supportive, skilful, kind and showed such promising leadership skills. Pupils learnt lots of activities to play in different sized spaces. These were; with no equipment, limited equipment, new alternative game ideas, wet play ideas, Personal Challenges, how to organise and referee games & coping with scenarios. They also had the chance to practice leading activities to each other. They also had time to reflect upon their current provision and start to make action plans with their staff members. We hope they enjoyed learning many activities and ideas to take back to their schools to develop their Active Playtimes! Thanks to our hosts Stover School & to the schools for coming along to this opportunity.
